
Martinelli expects to sign FTA between Panama and Peru, by November
Yesterday, Panama and Peru agreed to start, as soon as possible, the negotiations to sign a free trade treaty, which will increase the commerce between these two countries.
Both Presidents, Ricardo Martinelli from Panama and Alan Garcia made the decision in a meeting held while Panama´s President was in Peru.
So far, the scheduled date for the signing of the treaty is November 26, when President Alan García visits Panama.
After meeting with the chairman of the House of Ministers, Martinelli expressed to the reporters, that the free trade agreement that both governments are interested in signing, will be ready for this date to conclude negotiations before the end of the year.
According to the declarations, published in a press release from the House of Ministers, Martinelli stressed him and García shared points of view in different matters, such as cutting back expenses on armaments for Latin America.
The Panamanian head of government thanked the Peruvian government for showing him the problem management exposition, lead by Velásquez, to solve the centers of popular dissatisfaction in the country.
Martinelli added, “We will keep learning here in Peru, I thank the Government of President Alan García Pérez, and his ministers, whom have helped us greatly, I feel very honored to be in Peru”.
On his last day of the official visit, the Panamanian leader will meet with the mayor of Lima, Luis Castañeda, and will visit some of the projects in the Peruvian capital.
